A: If your child is 3 or 4 he or she should go into a Preschool class. If your child is ages 5 or 6 and has never taken dance, he or she should go into a Kinder Combo class. If your child is ages 6 (and has taken dance before) - 8 he or she should go into beginning classes. From this point, your child will be moved up based on ability and maturity level. If a student comes to us from another dance studio or is trying dance for the first time and is older than 8 years of age, we will place him or her first according to age and/or previous experience and then may adjust their placement once we have observed him or her in class.
A: Although DAW strongly encourages all students to be enrolled in ballet because it is the basis of all dance forms, it is only required if your child is taking contemporary.
